Parking in Venice sounds intimidating. You picture crazy prices, confusing rules, garages asking you to leave your car keys, or feeling like you’re about to get overcharged the moment you stop. We felt the same before our first visit.

But it doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive.
After visiting Venice several times by car, this is the best parking option we’ve found, and the only one we’d genuinely recommend if you want something affordable, safe, and stress-free.
The Best Parking Spot in Venice
This parking lot sits right at the edge of Venice, and while it doesn’t drop you directly into the historic center, it gets you very close. From here, it’s about a 10-minute walk before you step into Venice proper and reach the Grand Canal area.
No buses.
No boats.
No transfers.
Just park and walk.
Planning a trip to Venice?
Venice has introduced an entrance fee for day visitors on certain dates. It’s easy to manage, but important to know about before you arrive. We’ve explained exactly who needs to pay, how much it costs, and how it works in our full guide here:

Why We Recommend Park 280
This is self-parking, not one of those places where you hand over your keys which we have tried in the past but…. hmmmm it just makes you uncomfortable and anxious. Here, you park your own car, lock it and leave. No stress, no awkward interactions, no wondering what’s happening to your car while you’re gone, has it been stolen, scratched, will somebody be there when you return, what if your car is in the end of the lot with 10 cars in front of it, none of that!
The parking is fully automated, with cameras for security, and everything feels straightforward and well organized.
You can pay with card or cash, which makes it super convenient.
Because Park 280 is open 24 hours a day, it’s ideal if you want to experience Venice without crowds.
We arrived once around 6 a.m., and the parking lot was completely empty. No lines, no traffic, no stress. It’s perfect if you want to catch sunrise or explore Venice before it fills up.
We’ve also parked here during peak season in the afternoon, and even then, it was only about half full. Finding a spot was never an issue.

Prices (and why is this parking a steal)
Prices as of 2026:
- First hour: €3
- Second hour: €2
- Each additional hour: €2
- Maximum daily price: €22
- Open: 24/7
To give you an idea, here, 6 hours of parking costs around €13. If you go just a 100 m further, they will charge you 35€ for 6 or even 4 hours.
That’s almost 30% cheaper than other parking options around Venice.
It’s convenient, well priced, and removes one of the biggest headaches people have when visiting Venice by car.

Park, lock your car, start walking, and enjoy Venice the way it’s meant to be enjoyed.
Until next time, be mesmerized ❤️
